Every part on the sheet, the kerf reserved.

Give the outlines, their holes and the sheet. The nester places each part, keeps the beam's width around every cut, and says what did not fit.

Six 4 by 8 foot sheets side by side, each holding fifty of DeskAssistant-001's steel ballast plates in five columns and ten rows, every plate with its screw holes and two clamp slots, and a strip left empty at each sheet's end.
The layout fab_nest returned: six sheets, fifty plates on each.

Case study · a batch of 100 desk robots

300 steel plates, 6 sheets, nothing left over.

DeskAssistant-001 is a desk robot we make. It stands on three 6.35 mm steel ballast plates, 230 × 218 mm, each with 14 screw holes and two clamp slots. Its price is for a batch of 100 robots, so the batch needs 300 plates. The nester put them on 1220 × 2440 mm sheets with a 10 mm border.

What the run was given

The holes are in the outline, the kerf is an input.

The outline and the holes come from the plate in Base.3d.tsx. The kerf (0.3 mm) and the gap between parts (3 mm) are inputs, not measurements: the cutting service states its own, and a run with its numbers is one edit of the call. Every plate was placed square to the sheet (0°), and a strip of 202 mm stays free at the end of each sheet.

Nest your own parts.

A nest is a file of outlines and a sheet. Change a quantity or the sheet, and the layout and its numbers are made again.
